Spicy Pineapple Mezcalita

Hi everyone! So I have discovered this yummy drink that I have never heard of, so I decided to make my own version of it!

I had never heard of Mezcal, but once I tried it, the best way I could explain it was that it has a smokey taste to it. Like a smoky tequila basically!

It is super simple to make!

Let’s Get Started!

What you are going to need:

2 oz of  Prolijo Mezcal

2 medium jalapeños – sliced thin

1 oz of Orange Liquor

2 tbsp of Lime Juice

Pineapple Juice

Pineapple Wedges

Tajin

Ice

Directions:

  1. Pour Prolijo Mezcal into a jar or bowl. Add jalapeño slices and place a lid on the jar. Place in refrigerator and let it stand for at least 20 min. The longer is sits, the spicier it will be.
  2. Mix together about 1 oz of orange liqueur and 2 tbsp of lime juice and add into pitcher.
  3. Strain the jalapeño flavored Mezcal and mix it with pineapple juice in a pitcher and stir well.
  4. Take glass and dip the rim into lime juice and then tajin and fill glass with ice.
  5. Pour the drink into glass filled with ice, pineapple wedges, and jalapeño. Garnish with pineapple wedge and serve immediately.

Review on the Juniper Latte

Hi everyone!

As much as I love Starbucks for their drinks and their coffee, I completely understand when people say that their drinks are expensive! So I wanted to help you out with giving reviews on new drinks before you spend money on it!

This post will be short & sweet, don’t worry!

THE JUNIPER LATTE

Starbucks recently released a new latte, the Juniper latter. This is how Starbucks describes it.

“Our signature espresso and steamed milk mingle beautifully with juniper syrup. This beverage has a light, pine-like flavor with delightful citrus undertones. We cap this latte with velvety foam and accentuate the remarkable flavor with a dusting of pine-citrus sugar.” – Starbucks

What is Juniper??

“an evergreen shrub or small tree that bears berrylike cones, widely distributed throughout Eurasia and North America. Many kinds have aromatic cones or foliage.” – Google

Here are the nutritional facts: Juniper Latte Nutritional Facts

What I got

I love non-dairy milks, so I got a Grande Juniper Latte made with Almond Milk.

The initial taste was yummy! It tastes refreshing and light. It’s not sweet by any means, so if you’re a sweet coffee kind of person, I would not reccomend. BUT if you like your coffees less sweet, then I would give it a try!

You can definitely taste the citrus and pine overtones and they are not over-bearing.

So when I first tasted it, I was pleasantly surprised!

BUT

The aftertaste…. was not my cup of tea (or coffee).

The pine (Juniper) really sets in when the aftertaste comes through the pallete.

THIS IS ONE PERSON’S REVIEW! REMEMBER! I am not a coffee expert, & I acknowledge the fact that everyone’s taste buds are different!

SO! This latte was not for me, BUT if you like earthy flavors, give it a try!!

I’ll stick with my Chestnut Praline for now 🙂
